Bio: Born in the year 1970, Shri Mahantesh GK lost his vision due to Typhoid when he was six-months-old. But he proved to be a visionary and established Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled along with his schoolmate and good friend Late Shri SP Nagesh. He completed his Primary Schooling from Shree Ramana Maharishi Academy for the Blind and Higher Education from National College, Bangalore. He acquired his Masters Degree and M Phil from the University of Bangalore. He is a first-class academician and an ardent admirer of English Language and History. He started his career as an English lecturer at University Law College, Bangalore. But his inspiration and calling were elsewhere; he wanted to ensure all possible support to Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) by providing Education and Sports facilities on par with their non-disabled peers. He wanted to see PwDs become taxpayers and not dole recipients. Thus, began the journey of Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled. Ever since its establishment, Samarthanam Trust, under the able leadership of Shri Mahantesh, has been providing education, livelihood facilities, infrastructure, technology and a plethora of other need-based support to the disabled and underprivileged. He wants to ensure that sufficient opportunities reach each and every person both in academics and sports. He also serves as the President of the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) and the World Blind Cricket Ltd (WBC). Speaker: Prof. Rangasayee Raghunathrao, Chairman, Audiology Committee of International Association of Logopedics and Phoniatrics
Bio:- Prof. Rangasayee Raghunathrao,is currently Chairman of the Audiology Committee of International Association of Logopedics and Phoniatrics, a federation Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of 44 countries.He served as Technical Director at Dr. S. R. Chandrasekhar Institute of Speech and Hearing, Bangalore, Ex-Director and Prof., Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for the Hearing Handicapped (AYJNIHH) , National Institute for the Orthopaedically Handicapped (NIOH), National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped (NIMH), Composite Regional Centre for Persons with Disabilities (CRC) at Bhopal and Ahmedabad.He is currently a member in BIS in his personal capacity, guided 3 of his students for PhD degree in MUHS,Nashik, and Member in ICMR’s Task Force on Deafness .He is a founder member of the IEEE disability group.
He was President of the Indian Speech and Hearing Association,2014-15 and Founder President of ISAAC-India Chapter. Prof. Rangasayee’s work has been recognized and rewarded by various organizations. He is recipient of National Technology Award in Handicap Welfare in 1995, National Award for creating Barrier Free website in 2010 - both from the President of India, Recipient of ‘Bharat Award’ for Excellent work in Speech Pathology and Audiology instituted by the Indian Speech & Hearing Association, Award of Appreciation from the Commissioner, South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department, USA, and Rajiv Gandhi Puraskar of Indian Association of Rehabilitation Professionals. He’s actively involved in research and has published many articles in National and International peer reviewed indexed journals,has delivered lecturers in national and international seminars and led delegations in the field of Disability Rehabilitation to UK and Sweden.He was an invited speaker on Universal Design in the International Conference held in Manila in 2013. In Sept.2016, he was a global panelist of American Speech and Hearing Association to talk on Clinical Use of ICF in India and a speaker in the Round Table of WHO held at the 30th World Congress of IALP at Dublin on the theme of Primary Hearing Care.His work revolves around Universal Design,International Classification of Functioning Disability and Health,Genetics of Deafness,Deafness as a public health issue, and a new Branch of Audiology called Social Audiology in understanding and promoting Sound and Hearing culture.
