SENSE-2015

Submission Deadline: May 20, 2015

I found that writing software was much more difficult than anything else I had done in my life.
- Donald E. Knuth

Almost every aspect of our daily lives depends on software. Systems in which software interacts with other software, systems, devices, sensors and with people are called software-intensive systems. Examples include large-scale heterogeneous systems, embedded systems for automotive and avionics applications, telecommunications, wireless ad hoc systems, business applications with an emphasis on web services etc. These systems have massive numbers of nodes (ensembles) which operate in open and non-deterministic environments. Failures of these systems can have dramatic consequences for our economy and well-being. While many of the problems posed by traditional software are difficult but manageable, some of the challenges posed by these complex systems are beyond the current state of the art of software engineering. The International Symposium on Ensemble Networks and Software Engineering (SENSE-2015) is intended to serve as a forum for researchers, practitioners, and developers to exchange ideas and results for the advancement of ensemble networks and software engineering.

SENSE’15 is co-affiliated with Fourth International Conference on Computing, Communications and Informatics (ICACCI-2015), August 10-13, 2015, Kochi, India. ICACCI-2015 is technically co-sponsored by IEEE Communications Society and IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society. The Conference is technically supported by IEEE SMCS Technical Committee on Soft Computing and IEEE ComSoc Technical Committee on Internet.

SCMS School of Engineering and Technology (SSET) is one of the largest technology institutions in Kerala. SSET is consistently ranked as one among the top 75 Engineering Colleges in India, by renowned national survey agencies. The institution is ranked as the Best Engineering College in Kerala by RECCAA- NT. As per the study conducted by “The Week” jointly with Hansa Research Group SSET was ranked as the 64th best in the order of national merit in the year 2011. In another study by the National Research Agency MDRA jointly with “The Outlook” magazine SSET was ranked 59th best engineering college in India again in the year 2011. Yet another survey conducted by GHRDC- CSR and published in the ‘Competition Success Review’ in August 2012 issue, SSET was ranked 11th in the ranking of Top Emerging Engineering Colleges in India.

Affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, SSET offers B.Tech. in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Computer Science, Automobile and Masters (M.Tech.) in all branches.

SSET is promoted by the renowned SCMS GROUP, nationally acclaimed for its adherence to quality, excellence and ethics in education. Its flagship PGDM programme is internationally reputed among business and industry and is accredited by NBA (India) and ACBSP (USA). SCMS GROUP was established in the year 1976, by the great visionary Dr. G.P.C Nayar, who wanted to redefine educational standards in India by shaping it as a window to the emerging market driven global economy. The Group has campuses in Kerala, Bangalore and London, and offers programmes in the areas of Management, Engineering, Technology, Biotechnology, Genetic Engineering, Genomics, Proteomics, Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering, Hospitality, Commerce, Advertising, Public Relations and Journalism.

The SSET is spread over a 30 acre lush green campus with best of class facilities in infrastructure for teaching, learning and recreation. The campus is highly regarded for its ambience and discipline. The team of faculty is highly committed and is an admirable blend of experience and dynamic youth. Upmarket hostel facilities are provided separately for boys and girls. The lab and computer facilities are constantly innovated and upgraded and state-of-the-art equipments and machines are regularly added to provide cutting edge instructional facilities.

SSET has a robust Research Department. Innovation and creativity of the students and teachers across all streams are recognized and nurtured by the Research Department. The Centre of Sustainable Water Technology and Management (CSWTM) at the College is developed as a centre of excellence to solve water and water related problems as an Indo-German Project with the cooperation and technology support from the University of Applied Sciences, Weingarten, Germany (UAS). Regular students and faculty exchange programmes are undertaken between the College and the German University. Prof (Dr.) Johannes Fritsch from UAS is in-charge of the Project and is an adjunct Professor at SSET. German Water Partership(GWP) is a consortium of 350 German companies working on various aspects of water technologies. The water related projects of SCMS under CSWTM caught the attention of several companies who are the members of GWP. They have decided to collaborate with CSWTM in order to fine tune the outstanding German technology on water to be ideally standardized for Indian local conditions for solving the water related problems in the country. CSWTM is envisaged to be a Center of Excellence in water in the coming years.

Department of Computer Science and Enginnering at SSET has always given paramount importance to research. Research areas include Desktop and Mobile Malware Detection, Image Security, Information and Network Security, Security in Mobile Ad- Hoc Networks, Big Data Analytics, Cloud Computing and Natural Language Processing.
